Los Kitos Entertainment launches
The Educomics featuring The Ten Education Commandments for Parents at
the National Association of Hispanic Publications Annual Event
Los Angeles, CA, March
30, 2006---Los Kitos Entertainment, LLC in
collaboration with the NAHP Foundation proudly announces the launch of The
Educomics featuring The Ten Education Commandments for Parents. The
Educomics will be officially unveiled and distributed at the National
Association of Hispanic Publications Annual Event, to take place from
Thursday, March 30 through Sunday April 2, 2006 in Las Vegas, NV at the
Hilton Las Vegas Hotel.
The Educomics is a bilingual
(English – Spanish) educational tool presented as entertaining cartoon strip
characters Los Kitos. It was created as a cornerstone to deliver a positive
message and gentle feedback to Orange County Spanish Speaking parents and
their families. These hands-on steps are designed to support them in both
being better advocates for their children's education and learning how to
navigate the education system.
Los Kitos creatively adapted The
10 Education Commandments for Parents instructive concept, and re-produced
them as an educational comic to make it more attractive and engaging to its
audience.
The 10 Education Commandments
for Parents were drafted by Santa Ana College through their Padres
Promotores/ENLACE program. These ideas were adopted by the Latino Education
Attainment, and developed into its current format by a broad coalition of
organizations and concerned individuals such as the Orange County Business
Council, Orange County Department of Education, and the Santa Ana
Partnership (which includes Santa Ana Unified School District, Santa Ana
College, CSU Fullerton, and UCI) among others.
Los Kitos’ Educomics initiative
is expected to be widely disseminated throughout the Orange County as a
combined effort between Los Kitos and the several programs and organizations
that work with parents and families, and it hopefully will be expanded to
neighborhoods among Los Angeles County and beyond.
Los Kitos is totally committed
to its community, and will help generate the “Buzz” among the Latino
neighborhoods of the importance of education for the future of their
children and their community.
