event, and part of the NCLR Conference, Los Kitos characters will say present
to cheer the crowd by holding a racket to encourage physical activity and
sports and help raise awareness in the battle against diabetes, and also to
promote this condition’s early detection. Diabetes is nearly two times higher
among Hispanics than the general U. S. population and Los Kitos’ and the
USTA’s participation at this walk is intended to raise attention and awareness
to this issue that is impacting in such way the Latino community. One of the
main reasons diabetes affects Hispanics in such way is the lack of physical
activity and regular exercise. Advancing the growth of tennis on and off the
court and bringing especially designed programs to diverse populations will
encourage the Hispanic community to increase the practice of this sport which
brings great benefits to the body and mind.
Los Kitos characters will be

on important health issues that are afflicting the Latino community such as
obesity among kids and how to prevent it. Additionally, Los Kitos
Entertainment will donate Educomic books on
MORE
behalf of Wellpoint a BlueCross
Foundation. These educational series raise awareness among parents to take
their kids to a doctor regularly (preventive medicine) before rushing them to
the emergency room. This is to support parents on becoming proactive
participants in the health of their kids, to take steps to reduce risks that
may put their children in danger of death or disability, and to save them
money and an untold number of tragedies.
Los Kitos Entertainment will
provide Educomic books on behalf of SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional
Engineers) to support parents in encouraging their kids to better career
choices, and to increase Latino representation in the science and health
professions.
Another contribution from Los
Kitos Entertainment to this event will be the NCLR Conference map to be
distributed to the public, and it will be presented as entertaining cartoon
strip characters Los Kitos.
Los Kitos’ involvement at
this event and the creation of these partnerships demonstrates Los Kitos
Entertainment full commitment to the Hispanic community. These partnerships
are crucial for the advancement of the Hispanic community to help implement
health education and prevention programs, healthy lifestyles especially to
combat health conditions affecting the community such as childhood obesity,
diabetes among others, and conduct health advocacy activities to improve the
health and well-being of the Latino community.
These joined efforts are also
intended to assist the community in the areas of education, and providing
resources to the parents so that they can give support to their school aged
children, help them stay in school and guide them on a path to a college
education, and beyond. In addition, Los Kitos involvement at this conference
will mark an important step stone in the advancement of Los Kitos mission and
