NLBWA-OC Announces 2006 Honoring Latinas in
Business Award Recipients: Honorees will be recognized at May Event
Santa Ana, [Insert Date]—Five members of the
Latino community will be honored
at the National Latina Business Women of Orange County’s second annual
Honoring Latinas in Business Awards. This year’s honorees include: Martha
Montoya of Los Kitos as Latina Entrepeneur of the Year; Pamela Pimental of
MOMS as Latina Executive of the Year; Addy Perez-Mau of Heaven Sent Jewelry
as Emerging Latina of the Year; and Francisca Gonzalez-Baxa of the Law
Offices of Francisca Gonzalez-Baxa and Johnny Vallejo of Vallejo Financial
as Members of the Year. Every year a call for nominations is sent to
NLBWA-OC’s members and to leading community and business organizations. An
independent committee composed of corporate and community leaders review the
nominations and select the honorees.
“As a program driven business organization, it is extremely important that
we
recognize successful business people who have positively impacted our
members and the community by providing inspiration, professional and
entrepreneurial opportunities, and support,” said the NLBWA-OC’s president,
Janet Cronick. “The 2006 honorees represent the vision and mission of the
NLBWA-OC, to encourage Latinas to develop their business and professional
goals through education, business referrals, and networking,
” This year’s Honoring Latinas in Business Awards
will be held at The Delhi Community Center in Santa Ana at six o’clock in
the evening on May 20, 2006. A multitude of community, corporate, and
business leaders are expected to be in attendance. The theme of the event is
Havana Nights and the evening’s festivities include a seated dinner followed
by the awards presentation and installation of board of directors. Dancing
to music from the band, Latin Groove, rounds out the evening. Proceeds from
the gala will benefit the NLBWAOC’s signature business development programs,
such as the Emerging Latinas program, which will debut June 2006. Business
development programs like Emerging Latinas are especially important
considering that Latina owned business are increasing at unprecedented
rates, growing 200% alone between 1990 and 2000.
